DescriçãoLocated in the Sintra National Park, Penha Longa has a truly historic setting: the grounds encompass a church, monastery, gardens and ornamental fountains dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. The Atlântico Championship Course has staged The Portugal Open on three occasions and is without doubt one of the finest in the Lisbon area. Framed by the Serra de Sintra hills, the course has wide fairways flanked by trees and indigenous bushes. There’s a terrific variation of holes with dog legs left and right, multiple changes in elevation from tee to green, and there’s often a swirling wind to contend with - so club selection can be tricky. Lakes come into play on four holes – most notably on the tough par three 15th. The 16th, one of the most photographed par fours in Portugal, provides a further stern test towards the end of the round. In addition to the Atlântico Championship there is also the Atlântico North - a challenging nine hole layout built next to the hotel and the historic monuments. Buggy recommended.
