About the courseARCHITECT:
Sir Henry Cotton
DescriptionIn 1968, Vale do Lobo had just two 9 hole courses – the Yellow and the Orange - both designed by Sir Henry Cotton. Nine more holes – the Green course - were added in 1974. The Ocean Course was created by combining the Orange and the Green and sits next to its sister course, the Royal. The course is flanked by pines and fig trees on slightly undulating terrain that extends down to the Atlantic Ocean. The front nine has wide fairways and offers panoramic views of the ocean with many of the holes finishing close to the beach. The back nine are generally narrower and more difficult. The view from the 11th is quite breathtaking - the fairway extends directly to the sea - and the subsequent holes offer similar ocean vistas contributing to a memorable golfing experience. The 15th is a classic par three with the beach flanking the left side of the hole from tee to green.
